New Coach and Ex-AFL Recruit

Kingsley Amateur Football Club are thrilled to announce the appointment of former Subiaco Football Club member, Jarrod Holmes, as our senior coach in the Perth Football League A grade competition.

After undertaking a rigorous and thorough selection process by our coaching sub committee, where we held an extensive series of interviews with multiple candidates, it was Holmes who rose to the top with his well prepared and professional presentation.

He brings a vast background of football experience with him, having started as a Subiaco Football Club colt and reserves player in an incredibly successful era of that clubs history, under the Peter German reign. From there he joined Whitfords Amateur Football club, where he has been a mainstay for the past decade, as a league player in A/B grade league sides throughout, as well as developing into an assistant coach role at colts & league level over the past few seasons.

Through the selection process, the clubs coaching sub committee were most impressed by his preparation for the initial meeting, as well as his ability to detail a clear plan for how he would implement his strategy and football philosophy to the league side on the field, as well as show a great understanding of how he would need to interact with the wider club and community from an off field perspective.

In another coup for the club, with this coaching appointment, the club has also signed former AFL player Greg Broughton, who played 110 games in a career spanning across stints at two clubs, with Fremantle FC & Gold Coast FC. Broughton, who is a close friend of Jarrod Holmes, will be assisting in our pre season running programs and also playing for the club in season 2020.

The club will be hosting a Meet & Greet event to welcome Jarrod to the club, on Thursday December 12 at 6pm, down at the clubrooms at Kingsley Oval. It’s a great opportunity to come by and familiarise yourself with the new coach, while enjoying a cold drink and sausage sizzle. See the event here.

We can’t wait for season 2020 to roll around, there is a lot of excitement for what it has in store for us, so get in early and join the Kinga Train!!! GO KINGA!!!
